Knights Win Sloppy Game, Extend Win Streak to Six
MLC 16, Northland 15
In a game that featured a combined 13 errors, it was fitting that the game ended with an error. The Knights battled against the wind and shaky defense to pull out the 16-15 slugfest victory against Northland Friday afternoon. An errant throw that sailed into the Knights dugout allowed sophomore third baseman/pitcher Jason Fry to make the triumphant walk from third base to home, where he was mobbed by teammates. After the game, all Knights head baseball coach Drew Buck could do, was smile and shake his head.
"They're not always pretty, but a win is a win," said Knights head baseball coach Drew Buck. "We've been put in situations where we've had to come from behind lately and the guys keep finding a way to walk away with the win."
Fry led the Knights with 5 RBI, highlighted by a 3-run home run that cleared the left field fence. Boasting a 6-0 UMAC record (9-9 overall), the Knights are currently on a six-game winning streak, remain undefeated in conference play. The Knights host Northland again tomorrow at Mueller Park, with the doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm.
