GAME RECAP - Injuries hurt the Knights today as they were handed a loss in their season opener. Starting Quarterback Seth Fitzsimmons was knocked out after the first half with a separated shoulder and also starting cornerback Matt Frey was kocked out with a separated shoulder.
Although the Knights out gained the Spartans of Dubuque in yardage 347-315, the Knights couldn't run the ball against Dubuque's powerful defensive line that weighed in at an aberage of over 250. The Knights also couldn't give their quarterbacks enough time to throw the ball, resulting in 9 sacks against the Knights.
The game's first score was by Dubuque's WR Kuehn who caught a 10 yard pass from Touissant. The Knights answered right back with an 8 play 65 yard drive that ended with an 18 yard touchdown pass from Fitzsimmons to Feuerstahler. The Spartans came right back though with a 69 yard pass to Kuehn who ran it in for the score.
In the second half, the Knights had several big plays to receivers Stephawn Coleman, Casey Holtz, and Paul Mattek, but sacks pushed the Knights farther back then they could handle.
The Knights travel next Saturday to St. Olaf. Gametime is 1:00 pm.
