Knights Fall to Waldorf, Despite Great Defensive Effort
The Knights were unable to generate any offense as Waldorf held on to defeat MLC 10-2. Despite standout defensive play by junior linebacker Jonathan Lindloff, who led the team with 16 tackles and two sacks, including a safety, the Knights could not get enough going offensively to put the ball in the endzone. Overall the Knights defense had 12 tackles-for-loss, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and a safety. The Knights also held Waldorf to just 75 yards and four first downs in the second half.
The Knights went into the half, trailing 10-0. The lone touchdown of the game was a nine-yard touchdown run by Waldorf running back Marcus Lewis. The touchdown run capped off a two-play, 15 yard drive that was highlighted by the Waldorf defense recovering a fumble from Knights sophomore running back Joel Voss.
Senior tight end Nate Hochmuth led the Knights with four receptions for 77 yards. Next up for the Knights is its conference home opener against Maranatha. Kickoff is at 1:00 pm.
