The Knights struck the first blow, but Waldorf struck last, propelling the Warriors to a 24-17 defeat of the Knights in Forest City, Iowa. After recovering the opening onside kickoff, senior quarterback Phil Scriver completed a 54 yard touchdown strike to senior wide receiver Dan Gawrisch on the first play of the game for a quick 7-0 lead. Waldorf would answer back in the second quarter, when running back Marcus Lewis found paydirt on a 44 yard touchdown run tied the score at 10. Lewis ran for 102 yards on 22 carries in the game. The Knights would go into halftime with a 17-13 lead, thanks to Scriver's second touchdown pass of the half, an 18 yard completion to junior receiver Jake Schwartz.
The Knights would falter in the second half, however, thanks in part to three second half turnovers. After Waldorf trimmed the lead to one in the third quarter on a 38 yard field goal, the Warriors used a 12 play, 56 yard drive to take the lead. Quarterback Josh Palmer capped off the drive with a 23 yard touchdown pass to Chris Rittgers and the successful two point conversion put Waldorf up 24-17. Waldorf improved to 1-2 on the season. Senior linebacker Seth Jaeger led the Knights with 10 total tackles. The Knights begin play against conference opponents Saturday away at Blackburn College.
