Knights Roll in Opener

Freshman quarterback Greg Holzhueter connected with senior wideout Jake Schwartz on a 19 yard touchdown pass, giving the Knights a 19-17 lead with under three minutes to go, but couldn't hold off Hamline's late rally, as the Knights lost a tough, non-conference battle to the Pipers 24-19 in the game's closing seconds.  The Knights jumped out to an early 7-0 lead off of senior running back Joel Voss's three yard touchdown run, capping off the six play, 48 yard drive fivc minutes into the first quarter.   Hamline would respond with 17 straight points, giving the Pipers a 10 point cushion with 10 minutes to play in the game.  On the ensuing kickoff Schwartz 94 yard return for a touchdown pulled the Knights within four points with 10 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.  Later in the quarter Holzhueter connected with Schwartz on the 19 yard touchdown pass, giving the Knights a 19-17 lead but were unable to contain Hamline's last minute drive, as the Pipers took the lead and the game in the closing seconds.   Box Score
