The Knights couldn't buy a bucket in Tuesday night's game, shooting 33% on the night, against Mt. Marty, giving the Lancers their third straight victory, defeating the Knights 73-52 in a non-conference match-up.
The Lancers stretched a one-point lead to eight points in the final three minutes of play in the first half. Guard Travis Peterman scored five points in the final 90 seconds to give the Lancers an eight-point advantage going into the half ahead 39-31.
The Knights came back early on in the second half, taking a 42-39 lead on senior guard Dan Unke's free-throws. From there, the Lancers would answer with a 14-0 run over the next four minutes, giving Mt. Marty a 53-42 lead, its largest lead of the night. From there, the closest the Knights would come was within eight points. For the Lancers Justin Bonnichsen scored a game-high 20 points, while grabbing down 12 rebounds. Derek Gross also gave the Lancers a spark off the bench, scoring 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Junior guard Justin Ohm led the Knights with 13 points.
