QUICK GAME RECAP: MLC's Lady Knights started off the 2001-02 season tonight, however they didn't start on the right foot. MLC was plagued by numerous missed lay-ups and easy opportunities as they fell to Mount Marty College 70-44. MLC started off strong and led by as much as 5 points when Becky Pate hit a jumper to make the score 17-12. Marty responded wit hstrong defense and went on a 21-5 run to end the first half. During that strecth the Lancers used strong rebounding and several lay-ups to build their lead of 11 oints at halftime. MLC didn't help their cause though late in the half, as they shot only 17% from the field for the first half. The Knights were kept in the game by excellent free throw shooting (12-17).
In the second half the Lancers came out strong with an 11-0 run 2:00 into the half led by post Elize Leloux's 6 points. She finished with a game high 19 points. The Knights struggled though to make their shots, shooting 9-31 in the second half, many of which were within three feet of the basket. For the Knights one bright spot was the defense of two freshmen, Beth Ebeling who finished with 10 rebounds and Bethany Bauer who had 3 steals.
The Knights next game is after the Thanksgiving break, Tuesday the 27th at home versus Pillsbury.
