QUICK GAME RECAP: Defense wins games. MLC came into tonight's game looking to sharpen their defense and improve on their transitino game and did just that, doubling up Pillsbury 84-42. At the outset of the game MLC put on a full court trap that stifled Pillsbury all game forcing Pillsbury into 36 turnovers which led to 42 points for MLC.
Two other key aspects to the game were the dominance of the MLC bench and their post players. MLC outscored Pillsbury in the paint 44-16 and out rebounded them 57-44, led by freshman Beth Bertolus who finished with 9 total rebounds. The other key factor is the Knights' depth. Of the 15 players that played for the Knights, 14 scored. The Knights shuttled new players in throughout the course of the game to keep up the pressure on their press and their regulard man to man defense. The Knights were led in scoring by Junior Becky Pate who finished with 19 points on 8-11 shooting and 3 steals.
The Knights next contest will be against Buena Vista University this Saturday at 2:00 pm.
