Seelow's buzzer-beater propels Knights to Playoffs |
Senior guard Emma Babinec's basketball career will last at least last one more game. The encore performance scheduled for this Friday was enabled by junior forward Sarah Seelow's buzzer-beater that put MLC past Bethany 82-80. Babinec scored a game-high 25 points, but it was the supporting cast that came through in the clutch. Babinec's three point attempt was blocked and as Seelow came down with the rebound, she put it back up and in as time expired. Seelow scored 16 on the night and also grabbed 5 rebounds. Opening the second half up by six, the Knights expanded their lead to 18 on sophomore guard Jamie Boldt's three point bucket, putting the Knights up 61-43 with 15:05 remaining. Bethany would answer back, tying the game at 76 on Jessica Merseth's free throws. From there, Babinec and Seelow would take over and lead the Knights into the UMAC Final Four competition. Carly Belz, the other senior honored before the game, led the Knights with 14 rebounds in addition to her six points. |
Knights congratulate junior forward Sarah Seelow on her last second shot to give the Knights the 82-80 victory over Bethany.
