Tennis Takes the UMAC Crown

Projected to finish fourth of five teams in the UMAC in the annual pre-season coach's poll, the Knights surpassed expectations in the regular season with a solid 5-3 conference mark.  St. Scholastica won the top honors in the final regular season standings for the third consecutive season.  As for post-season play, the Knights had a different idea.  Senior ace Brad Nehls took down Eric VanderStelt of St. Scholastica in # 1 Singles competition in two sets to set the tone as the Knights went on to win the UMAC Post-Season Championship.

Sophomore Dan Laitinen made it to the final match in # 2 Singles competition, and after falling 6-1 in the first set, Laitinen came back strong winning the second set 6-3 and dominated the tie-breaker 10-1 to win the match.  Overall, the Knights participated in five of the six singles' championship matches.

In Double's Competition, the Knights top duo of Nehls and Laitinen, along with # 3 doubles of seniors Erik Parsons and Dan Westendorf succeeded in their championship matches.
