Arrangements
The files on this page are parts notated out. They are derived from the midi files on the other pages. The notation is not perfect, and the ear of the musician will have to aid in "deciphering" exactly what should be played. For example, differing note values that would need opposite stems may be shown as one value on the same stem. The ear of the performer will have to guide the rendering of the notes into actual music.
All of the notation is in the form of Microsoft Word documents. The notation was transferred as a graphic file and inserted into Word to make them as accessible as possible. While I have no objection to anyone making edits or changes to this music, the Word format does not enable any editing; it is only useful for printing out.
There is generally no part for percussion. Set players will either have to listen and decide on something appropriate, or the leader will have to suggest to the set player something like: "steady hi hat 8ths with a light rock snare/bass", or "heavier rock beat", or "put a fill in at this point".
Guitar lead sheets are sometimes provided. Some indicate what to strum or pick for each stanza; this can certainly be altered. In other cases, the leader or the guitarist will have to decide how to play. Should it be strummed chords in a steady quarter or eighth note beat? Should it be a quarter, eighth-eighth, quarter, quarter rhythm? Should it use some picking and strumming combined? A helpful way to approach this is to look at what the piano/keyboard is doing, and give the guitar a pattern that complements, i.e., playing when the piano doesn't play, or the reverse says the same thing - play when the piano isn't playing.
Several of the parts call for Piano/Bass. These were originally scored for one person to play at a keyboard that has been split for the Left Hand to play the bass part and the Right Hand to play the keyboard part. They could also be played by two separate musicians.
